Pleasant
resort that evokes history and legend: Homer, Ulysses, Circe,
Enea … myth and reality in a place that has always
attracted fantasy and interest from many places of the world.
The town has been inhabited since prehistory age; in the
Guattari Cave in fact Neanderthal man’s remains were
founded. The Romans conquered the town in IV century B.C.
The acropolis was built in those years in a splendid and
panoramic position. In the Middle Age it was destroyed by
Saracens in IX century; a castle was built here by Terracina’s
inhabitants, than it was owned by the Church and for a short
period by Templar Knights.
The beautiful cliff presents many sea coves and at its east
and north side there is a wonderful beach with a series
of towers from XVI century (Paola, Cervia, Fico, Vittoria,
Olevola).
The small and picturesque ancient centre has a great nightlife
in summer time, with bar and typical pubs, boutiques and
small shops, place for meetings for the famous people of
the show business. |
